Let's Scrap
Here is another great sketch from the Let's Scrap site. I am working through my road trip pictures. Here we are in Rocky Mountain National Park. This was such a fun day spent with our son. We hiked many trails and saw awsome wildlife. I usually don't want to go back to places I have visited, (There are just too many more to see!) but I want to go back and spend a few more days here exploring!
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

SMASHING
The latest fad in the scrapbooking world are called Smash Books. Yes, it another concept to get you to buy more product! You can read about them at K&CO SITE. But I like the idea of the smash book so I decided to make one last year for all of our travels.
I used a spiral journal from Target and I am covering it with stickers from all of our destinations. Then on the inside I put all of our tickets, brochures, napkins..... and journal about our day. This also helps me remember when I go to make a scrapbook page later.
This page is from we did the Embassy crawl around DC. I glued down the map and front of the brochure. Then I made the flag a flap and put pictures from their brochure and a wrapper from the Polish candy they handed out. These are all thing that I would keep but not necessarily put on a scrapbook page. So now they being used.
Here is a page from our trip to Alaska. The left side is a placement. Again brochure pictures and our ticket. These pages are super fast.
I bring this journal with me on all our trips. I carry a pencil case with pens, stickers, and a glue stick. I create each page at the end of our day in the hotel room.
Now I did break down and buy a SMASH brand book at Michael's. It was on sale and I had a coupon too, so I didn't feel so bad buying one.
This book is about things I love. I went through all my pictures and have a stack to, as the say, "SMASH". The front cover is made with Washi tape. It is a decorative tape that comes in hundreds of patterns and colors.
I just opened my book to a random page and made this page. If you know my scrapbook style, you know this is way out of my little box. I am very linear and rarely do it tilt anything. But I had fun making this page. I like how fast the pages come together. This will be a great book to look back on someday.
I am going to put all my pages under the SMASHBOOK tab on the top of my blog.
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Word Filled Wednesday
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12
I am sharing this over at Word Art Wednesday

Cards
I pulled out my purple papers for the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.
These next cards are ideas from Pinterest. My DIL Sarah, is making thank you cards for their missionary work. I love the bright colors. They were so easy to put together.
Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Donna Downey
Last week I went over to Scrapdoodles in Fredricksburg, VA. I took a class with Donna Downey. If you are active in the scrapbooking world, you probably have heard of her. She is a mix media artist.
I took a technique class called The Big 40. We filled this little journal with different backgrounds/techniques.
I think my favorite was when we used Pan Pastels. I loved the colors and how they went on the pages.
Her husband Bill was there too. He was so helpful. They make a great team. We had great fun getting messy and using all the great products. I look forward to using some of these techniques in my art journal.

Layouts
Here is my layout for this weeks sketch from Let's Scrap.
I am still working on a road trip from last year. These pictures are from a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. A moose walked right out in front of us along the trail. It was one of the coolest things EVER! So of course I stalked him and took tons of pictures. He even looked right at me and then just slowly walked away into the meadow.
I was going through my old pictures and found these from 1987. We were probably on a PCS move. We always made the most of moves, by seeing all the sights along the way.
Since I just scrapped some current day St Louis pictures, I thought this would be fun to add to the album. So I just grabbed a preprinted page and slapped them on!
