Wedding Signs

Do you want a fun idea for a carnival (casual) wedding????  Make wooden signs!  This was a FREE project for us.  Hubby had the wood and I had the paint and stain.

I googled ideas for sayings/signs.  After Hubby cut the wood, I stained them all the same color.

Then Sarah and I painted the sayings onto the wood.  I sprayed a clear coat of polyurethane to protect them from the elements.

Then Hubby attached them to the wooden stakes.  Don't they look super cute!  That is the word flying around the wedding "shop" lately.  So fun.
ONLY 17 MORE DAYS, YIKES!

Rosettes,Rosettes and More ROSETTES!

This past week I worked on making all these colorful rosettes for the centerpieces and windows.  Sarah H. and her friend Niki came over to help.

All of these will be put in the windows around the barn.  I don't know how many I made.  I just made them until I ran out of papers.
I used the Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make all these wonderful rosettes.  Below is a video I found on Youtube to show you the general way to make rosettes.  You can just change the width of your papers and scoring to
make all the different sizes.
These would make fun and easy decorations for all holidays, birthdays, showers.....
FYI ~ I bought all my paper on sale and raided my friends paper stash so all these rosettes propably cost  around 5 bucks!

Hymn & Scripture Challenge

We are on #7 in the Hymn & Scripture Challenge.  You can read Patter's devotion HERE.
God’s love is endless. We are to love others as Christ loves us. This hymn tells of God’s immeasurable love.
This song seems fitting for Easter.
For God showed us love by dying on the cross for our sins.

Do a deed of simple kindness,
Though its end you may not see;
It may reach, like widening ripples,
Down a long eternity. —Norris

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Nothing is more powerful than Gods LOVE!

How will you show God’s LOVE to others this week?

Wedding Shower

Last week I had the pleasure of going to my soon to be daughter (in law's) wedding shower.
She is so beautiful with her little crown!

Her friends made really cute decorations!

Yummy drinks and treats were served!  So you see her necklace??  It was made from gumballs.  Her friend drilled each one and made everyone necklaces!  Pinterest is a wonderful place to find party ideas.
Sarah was showered with many gifts.
My favorites were the rainbow knife set
and the designer crockpot.

Back in the day you would tie your present with a bunch or ribbon and bows.  An old wives tales says, "the number of ribbons you break, is the number of children you will have."  But with the introduction of gift bags, this tradition has fallen to the way side.  But we were able to gather enough bows and ribbons to create a nice wedding rehearsal bouquet.

Here I am with both my Sarah's!  Not sure how this is going to work when we are all together at the house.
I am truely BLESSED!

Wedding Banners

Time is flying by and I had to get busy making these banners for the reception decor.  I gathered the supplies to start the banners.
First I traced about a billion triangles and then cut them out with my pinking shears.

I was left with all these wonderful triangles.  I found ribbon at the Hagerstown Ribbon Outlet.  I bought bags of 100 yards for a QUARTER!  Yes you read that right, twenty-five cents.  I grabbed several bags.

I pinned the triangles to the ribbon and began sewing them all on.  Thanks Sarah A. for letting me use your sewing machine.  Mine is on its last leg and I didn't want to fight with it.

I cut out some cute hearts to jazz up the white triangles.

I pinned the finished banner to my tablecloth to see how it looked.  Not bad....... You have to picture all the colorful napkins, and centerpieces.  But I think it will work.

Then I made a few little banners to hang around the room.

I used my Cricut to cut out all the letters!  It made it so much easier!!!!!  Next on the agenda, rosettes!
