FLIP IT!

The scrap challenge over at Let's Scrap was to choose a sketch from their site and flip, turn, rotate...... it and then make a page with the "new" sketch.  Here is the orginal sketch.
Then I fliped it upside down.  I tweeked it a bit by making the paper meet in the middle.
This is what I came up with for this sketch.  I use the SEI: Mayberry collection.  They had great embellishments for this diner page.  Matthew and I went to this little place in St. Louis.  It is called Crown Candy Kitchen and was featured on the Food Network.  You can check them out HERE.

Thanks for taking a look at my layout.

Fun Cards

This week over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown the challenge was to use 3 brads.  I use them on my branches to hold my ornaments.  The papers are October Afternoon: Holiday Style.  I cut the branches out from my Cricut and used twine for my string.
I added some pop dots to the ornaments and some Stickles for some bling.

Below I combined two challenges.  At Stampin' Sisters in Christ the challenge was tear papers on a card.  The Sketchbook Saturday Challenge was to use this sketch for a card. I didn't like how the paper looked in front of the strip, so I put mine behind the top strip.  For this card I used MME: Stella & Rose papers and a G Studio stamp.

The next card I scraplifted from a member at the Let's Scrap site.  She had made a card from the left side of this sketch.  It was so cute, I had to try it for myself.  Mine kind of turned out looking like a Lego card, but it is still OK.

I used my new Cuttlebug to emboss the squares and a Martha Stuart butterfly punch. My papers are from the 6x6 pad from Simple Stories: Summer Fresh.

Weekly Sketch

Here is another great sketch from the Let's Scrap crew!  This week I learned how to make the ever so popular chevron.  I had chevrons that were printed onto paper, but I decide to go old school and hand make them.  Here is a LINK to the directions I used.

On our road trip last year Matthew and I hit a couple of unusual places. This little gem is in Kansas. It is called Mushroom Rock State Park. You can read about it HERE. It was a fascinating place in the middle nowhere USA. We had to pass cows just walking down the road.  He was giving us the eyeball and saying, "What the heck are you guys doing in my field?"

We spent about a half hour exploring the
 rock formations in the "park".

Here is a close up of the chevrons.  My advice for making them would to be to use thin paper.  Mine was double sided and thick!  So it was hard to get them to lay flat on the page.  I had to use a bunch of adhesive to get them to lay flat and I added the little border on the edge to make them look smoother.

Couple of Cards

Here are a couple of cards I made this week.  the first one is from a challenge site called Try Stamping on Tuesday.  The sketch is to the left and my card is below.  I used MME Fine & Dandy papers.  They came in a 6x6 paper pack from Michael's.  These little packs of paper are perfect for cards.  With these papers I made this card in less than 10 minutes.PERFECT!

This card was made for the July theme over at 52 {Christmas) Card Throwdown.  The theme is wreaths.  I am not in love with how it came out, but I made it so I thought I would share.  The snowflakes are from American Crafts.  I had them sitting around for years so I thought I would use them to make a wreath.  I found this scrap of GRAY (it looks brown in the picture) snowflake paper by KI Holiday collection.  Then I added some Doodlebug bling.

As I was linking my cards up to their respected sites I saw that I got a top three recogintion over at Try Stampin on Tuesday!   Woo Hoo!

Scrapping A Road Trip

Let's Scrap Sketch
I have begun scrapping a road trip I took with Matthew last year.  We stopped at a state park in Kentucky to explore some caves.  Fun!

Our next stop was St. Louis.  I bought the premade pages in the gift shop.  I thought I might cut them apart to use on my pages.  I decided just to slap the pictures on them.
It was super easy.

The B/W pages were meant for kids to color, but I decided to just leave them B/W.  I think it makes the pictures POP!  Matthew discovered I had continuous shooting on my camera so we had a blast jumping and
running around the arch.

Matthew enjoys talking with EVERYONE!
He asked the ranger if he could get a picture with him.
He was happy to do it.

Then it was time to go to the top of the arch.  They stuff you in a tiny capsule for the ride to the top.

There was a great view of the city.

Scrap Goodies

I entered some July challenges. The layout below is for a site called Once Upon A Sketch.
I flipped the sketch and hid my journaling behing the circle on the left side.  This is a picture of all the ladies I crop with in Ocean City.  We gather for a weekend of food, fun and friendship!  I can't wait till this November for our next get together!

Next is a card I made for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ.  Each week they give us a challenge to make a card.  This week was Clean & Simple.
This card took me 10 minutes to make!
The next challenge is from Scrapbook Challenges.  This months theme is patriotism.  We were to make a card using our countries colors.  Since I am from the good old US of A, I made this fun pinwheel card.

Scrap Prize

I joined a great site called Let's Scrap. I enter a sketch challenge each week and my layout was randomly drawn for a weekly prize. The week I won, Club SEI was
the sponser. Look at all the goodies I received in
 the mail this week!

22 pieces of double sided papers.  Theme: Mayberry Road Trip

Puffy stickers, buttons, chipboard, tags, brads...

These stickers are fabric!  Corigated cardboard dies.

A bag full of arrows and decoative tags/dies

So of course I had to make my first layout with a Let's Scrap sketch.  Matthew and I drove to Colorado last year.  So these papers are perfect for this set of pictures.

I used something from each part of the kit.  The little buttons are so cute!

I put the little puffy cars along the border.

It was great trip and we saw many sites.  I look forward to sharing my pages with you over the next few weeks.

I have been checking out many different scrapbooking sites this week.  So I decided to combine all of their challenges and make a couple of cards.
The color pallet comes from SCRAP FIT.
The sketch for the first card comes from
Papers: MME Quite Contrary

The next card was made from a sketch at LET"S SCRAP and the word art is from WORD ART WEDNESDAY.

I have loaded all my scrapbook pages from 2012 on a seperate page.  Just click the tab at the top of my blog to see all the layouts from this year.
Also there is a tab for all the cards I have made.
