Let's Catch UP!

Michael and I have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather here  in Virginia. We hopped on our bikes and road for about 12 miles on the C&O canal trail
This a 184 mile trail.  I enjoy it because it is FLAT!
The colors are quickly changing and falling.  We rode to the historic town of Harpers Ferry, WV.
The town is on the Potomac River.  It is rich in Civil War history.  We parked our bikes and walked over the bridge to grab some lunch.

The trees were shining in fall glory.
Our next activity was our fall festival at church.  We had fun setting up the cake walk.  It was neat to watch the little kids win a cake.  You would have thought they won a million bucks.  Look at all that yumminess we gave away.

Matthew and Sarah K joined us at our church to help run the craft table.  I love their hats!  They are great with the kids.  I am excited to see how the Lord works in their lives as children's missionaries.

Finally we capped off the week with the Capital Caring Gala.   We got all dressed up and headed to the National Building Museum.

Michael is so handsome in his tuxedo!  We clean up pretty good.  It was a fantastic evening with friends.
I only had my camera phone to record the evening.  The hall was decked out with all the glitz and glamour you would expect of a gala .  This guy on the piano was impersonating Elton John.
Here are couple more views of the venue.  It was very snazzy.  I loved that fountain right next to our table.  The table was decked out with a sequin tablecloth and pretty glassware.  The room glowed!
Now we are bracing for Hurricane Sandy.  It looks like it is going to hit a bit north of us right now.  But we will feel all the wind and rain!  We have battened the hatches and will be praying for the others in her path.

 Have a blessed day!

Storm Damage

Last weekend storms ripped through Virginia.  Here is the damage left behind.  We had tons of branches and twigs covering our lot.

Back in our woods we lost two trees.
We will be chopping them up for firewood.

Here are the two trees.  They fell toward the shed.  Only a few shingles were ripped off the shed.
Man, we were lucky it wasn't smashed.

Here is the root from one of the trees.
There are a bunch of flat rocks in the roots that
we pulled out to use around our pond.

Here is the other side of the shed.

We were blessed that our house did not get hit by any trees.  We just have some major wood chopping to do.

The state of Maryland is CLOSED!

Last night we got hit with a thunder SNOW storm.
The lightening flashed and the thunder rolled
as snow covered our neighborhood.

Of course we had to go for a walk!

This morning we woke up to a snow covered wonderland.

The snow was heavy and many branches fell.
We had a hard time trekking
through the trails around our house.

Our dog Blue LOVES the snow.
He enjoys running and playing around outside.
He is old, but he turns into a young pup when he sees snow.

Winter 2010

Snowmageddon is what the weather stations are calling this winter's storms. We have been bunkered down in the house for days.  Trees are falling, icicles growing  and snow is falling/blowing sideways. Good thing I can just sit by the window and watch the beautiful snow.

Winter Wallop

I began to snow around 10pm Friday night and didn't stop until midnight Saturday.
We received around 22 inches of wonderful SNOW!
Michael put the blade on the mower. This saved time and our backs many hours of shoveling.

The birds really hung out at our window feeder.
Then the sledding fun began.  We have a nice hill right across the street.  So I blew up the sled and we probably spent at least 5 hours outside on and off during the day sledding and playing in the snow.

This last picture is looking out our sliding door onto the deck.
I guess this one counts!

Spring

Look what is popping out around our trees this week. Spring has come to Maryland!

Let's thank God today for His beautiful
creation and for His faithfulness in
sustaining His world and us.

NOREASTER!!!!!!

March is roaring in like a lion. We got walloped with a big snow storm over night. Big for Maryland for sure! The city is paralized, so everything is closed up and we are not to do any unnecessary travel.

Seems like a good excuse to scrapbook today!

I took a video of our BIG storm for all you New Yorkers. Enjoy the your Monday chuckle.

SNOW DAY!

After my awful day yesterday, the Lord knew I needed this!!!!!! Snow just makes me happy no matter what is going on in my life.
I took a long walk with Blue.
I usually sing praise songs from my IPod and pray for family and friends.
I love this time I spend alone with the Lord.
These are pictures from the trails around my house. So beautiful!

Love my Macro setting!

Maryland Snowblower

Yes, he is blowing the snow off our drivway!

So hubby came home and said he was going to go clear the driveway from the
blizzard we had today.
I heard this blowing noise from the kitchen. So I looked out and saw this.....
Yes he is using the leaf blower to blow away the snow.
I really should have been surprised to see him doing this.
In the fall I caught him vacuming the acrons off the driveway. Heehee.......ROFL

Dreams Do Come True

This morning I was watching the news and I glanced out the window. What did I see??? SNOW was falling from the sky. It made me so happy. So I took blue for a long walk. Then I took this video. I love the big flakes.
